I figured I'd get either coffee or tea from the café this morning. After deliberation, I decided upon tea (since I already had plenty of coffee at home). So, as any reasonable person would do, I chose a cup and a sleeve and a tea bag and assembled all pieces as intended.
I then held the cup under the dispenser and proceeded to fill it about 1/3 full with coffee.
To quote Mike Birbiglia: I know! I'm in the future too!
I blame the hot water switch. Bright red is not obvious enough.

I love me some Dexter but HOLY SHIT this season is intense. If I had nails, I'd have chewed through them by now.

And my last verbal and electronic thank you has been sent. I am certainly excited about starting at Apple, but I was here at Qualcomm MEMS for almost two years, and I'm definitely going to miss the people I had the pleasure of working with.
It's Tuesday, just a couple of days before Thanksgiving, and this book is closed.

Someone got all the unsent letters I wrote in my mind, and fucking made it.

This is the exact mixture of functionality and cheap/simple that DJ gear never seems to nail. I wonder if it's in the Apple store yet. Hmm...

My Pioneer DEH-P710BT install is done!

So here's how it went, in brief. I picked up some butt splices (heh heh) that had pre-applied heat shrink tubing on them, figuring that was the easiest way to wire the receiver and the Modifry DCI to the factory harness. It worked like a charm... The splicing was clean and the connections were insulated. No issues there.
Taking apart the dash was difficult, though... It's not particularly complicated on an S2000, but this is Aftersun and we know what that means. I was careful and deliberate and nothing broke. It was a bit more problem-free than the stereo install I did on Red Invid, though that was my own damn fault.
Everything worked on the first try. Everything! Even the DCI functioned as expected, giving me full access to the dash controls built-in to the car. Mounting the deck was tricky, though. First, the factory brackets were tough as hell to remove from the factory deck, and one screw managed to strip. It was far, far over-torqued. So, my handy drill bit and some elbow grease later and that was done. Said brackets, once removed, also required some additional drilling so the mounting holes lined up snugly with the Pioneer deck.
Here's where the hardest part took place: Oh my GOD there was a lot of wiring to fit behind the deck! Because this is a newer Pioneer unit, there are a few in-line fuse boxes built into the harness wiring, and those, in addition to the dual USB extension, the mic extension, and the Modifry DCI unit made for about two hours of arranging, gently pushing, cussing, and starting over. Despite my enthusiasm I stopped around 2am and figured I'd pick it up in the morning. It just wasn't working.
As proof that coffee does indeed fix everything, within 30 minutes of trying again this morning, it all fit into place. It made for a very tight arrangement, but it worked, and everything's back in place and mounted securely. It feels WONDERFUL to have executed such a clean install on a car that, as you all know, I'm still paranoid about looking at the wrong way :] To quote Aaron, "[I] had an epiphany" and realized that I do have more fun adding to and modifying my car, so to hell with staying completely bone stock.
The deck sounds fantastic as expected, and now allows me to plug in an iPod, a USB drive, and stream music and voice over Bluetooth. Not too shabby.
Now I'm off to the store to pick up all sorts of goodies to surprise Chris with once the GRE is over. Can't wait to go for a drive with him... I think he'd like that; This test is all sorts of cruel and unusual punishment.
So, to recap: YAY STEREO FUN SPEED MACHINE CAR BUT STUPID GRE HONEYBUN DESTROY TEST FUN DRUNK HAPPY.

This is my favorite section of reddit. Words cannot describe the awesome.
In less awesome news, either I didn't get the job at FileMaker or I'm not their first choice. Strong suspicion of the latter. Bummer.
